José van GOOL has always been intrigued and impassioned by human nature. The way people move –how they interact, and the way they fit into their own surroundings or into public places. Through her talent José passes on to us the emotions she has captured in her subjects. They can be walking on the beach at sunset, waiting for a train or strutting down the street wearing those long coats … they are walking into our lives… their feelings will be forever impressed on and expressed in our memories!
José van Gool’s paintings of impressionist inspirations and narrative realism are playful, rich, and sometimes mournful gestures of a seductive world. The human figure, alone or existing with others, is the central force of each canvas. There is little notion of outside disturbances in the compositions. Instead, they dwell in self-contained worlds, nourished by color, comforting and sweetly strange to the viewer who studies them.
