A native New Yorker, Joe Borg spent his adolescent years on the isle of Malta. He developed his artistic abilities through apprenticeships to artists and master printers. As an artist / printmaker, Joe Borg works in traditional etching techniques as well as in freer, more colorful monoprints. Musical elements are present in almost all of his compositions, sometimes in the suggestion of a staff, part of an instrument strings, a section of a score or instruments crisply embossed beside a monoprint. Joe fills his Long Island studio with strains of music to set the tone and tempo of his refined, evocative etchings
